Our Classes

Welcome to "Amari Yoga Horsham"! In each class we will learn how to get to know ourselves better and how to improve our physical and mental health. 

No previous experience is required to start practising yoga, only a positive attitude and a bit of courage to start "something new". You are starting a new and exiting adventure. 

 

Yoga is a gift in my life and I would love to share it with you.

The classes we offer are "Vinyasa Flow sequences", were we combined different styles in one session of 1 hour (Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin). We start the session with breathing (Pranayama) exercises. Every class we use slightly different asanas, but we always work folding forwards, back bends, core strength , inversions and balance. We learn every asana (move, posture) with the breathing and  some props if needed (blocks, straps, bolsters or blankets).

 

We like to say every class is like a journey, it starts slow, gradually builds up into more complex, challenging asanas, gets to a pick asana (very challenging) and gradually we come back to relaxation and breathing. To finish we enjoy a very relaxing "savasana" were everyone takes their time to let go all the tension you might have been holding during the day using different guided meditation.

Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga is the yoga tradition most familiar to Western culture. The term is derived from the Sanskrit ha, meaning "sun," and tha, meaning "moon."

Practitioners of Hatha yoga use physical alignment and breathing control to achieve an equilibrium between the active body and its universe. The resulting harmony manifests itself as physical strength, physiological health and emotional well-being.

The word ‘yoga’ means union in Sanskrit, and this is exactly what partner yoga aims to achieve – a uniting of two people.

It is a fabulous medium for building stronger communication and intimacy in just about any kind of relationship, whether it is friendship, a family member, or your significant other. Postures and flow sequences are designed in an awesome way to create and nurture trust, strengthen communication and create a sense of laughter and light heartedness!

Partner yoga brings people together through movement, play, breath, touch and importantly through intimacy.

Yin and restore yoga 

Both Yin and Restorative forms of yoga asana are slow-paced. They enable you to move slowly and focus on maybe 10 different poses for the entire 90 minute class. Both forms of practice calm the mind and nervous system, enable you to turn inward, and focus on the breath.

They’re both gentle and suitable for all levels - from total newbies, to experienced practitioners, to recovering athletes and seniors.

Ashtanga Yoga, one of the classical yoga forms after the Hatha yoga. The Ashtanga Yoga form comprises a set sequence of yoga poses that range from forwarding fold to backbends, twists, and inversions. Sun Salutation series is regarded as one of the fundamental asana branches of yogic practices.

 

The practice of Sun Salutation A and B warms up to the performance of subsequent ashtanga yoga poses. The practice eases the joints, increases the blood flow, stretches the body, and prepares the individual for a challenging practice ahead.

 

The Ashtanga Yoga Asanas are linked with rhythmic breathing and flowing movement that create heat deep within the core and purify the body, mind, and soul.

Acroyoga is a physical practice which combines yoga, acrobatics and Thai massage. Acroyoga includes all types of (mostly recreational) partner and group acrobatics in which at least someone is lifted.

Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing their mind on a particular object, thought or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

Meditation may be used with the aim of reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and pain, and increasing peace, perception, self-concept, and well-being.
